The History of the Duke of Edinburgh Open Awards Unit
Established by Warwickshire County Council Outdoor Education Department in 2004, the Duke of Edinburgh Award programme is now run by Rezilient Ltd, a Not for Profit Social Enterprise. The ‘open award unit’ enables young people to undertake the DofE Award who do not have access through school, scouts or girl guides etc. Rezilient Ltd was set up in 2011 after Government pulled funding from the local authorities to support outdoor education. Rezilient Ltd is a not for profit Social Enterprise. Rezilient staff and volunteers are all CRB checked and hold the appropriate Local Authority or National Governing Body qualifications for leading groups in outdoor environments.
Rezilient offers the awards at 3 level, Bronze, Silver and Gold.
